This Month’s Featured Resort - Sandals Whitehouse European Village & Spa in Jamaica

ARRIVAL IN JAMAICA

Upon arrival, you'll proceed to the Sandals lounge, which is conveniently located at Sangster International Airport (MBJ), in Montego Bay. Your complimentary transfer to and from the resort will be arranged by Sandals.  Climb aboard your bus and enjoy your included roundtrip airport transfer from Montego Bay International Airport to Sandals Whitehouse. The journey takes a little over one hour, so sit back and enjoy the magnificent scenery along the way.

ISLAND INFORMATION

From the moment you arrive, you’ll find yourself immersed in the untouched beauty and warm hospitality of Jamaica's stunning south coast.  Nestled within an uninhabited 500-acre nature reserve, Sandals Whitehouse is a tranquil haven located within reach of some of the island's most spectacular sights. This is the real Jamaica — with endless sugar cane fields and cascading waterfalls.

HOTEL INFORMATION

Within a 500-acre wilderness preserve, blue mountains, lush palm groves, pristine coastlines and shimmering turquoise waters create an unbelievable backdrop for a monumental resort. Sandals Whitehouse Europe Village & Spa perfectly blends the exotic allure of the Caribbean with the refined elegance of Europe.

Charming Italian piazzas and fountains are surrounded by gardens resplendent with fragrant foliage, while three European-inspired villages – Italian, French and Dutch – are home to luxuriously-appointed, all oceanfront rooms and suites.

Each one offers magnificent views overlooking the two-mile long beach, and top tier suites come with Sandals’ legendary Butler Service. Seven restaurants serve mouthwatering gourmet cuisine from around the world, and entertainment ranges from a sophisticated piano bar to bonfire beach parties and a chic nightclub.

Why Use A Travel Agent?

"Why should I use a travel agent?" As a veteran travel executive, that's a question I'm often asked. Today, with the overwhelming number of sources for travel information (the Internet, cable television, newspapers, magazines, guidebooks, etc.), it's no wonder the consumer is confused. Yet that's precisely why the services of a professional travel consultant are more valuable than ever.

In January, the television news magazine, 20/20, reported the results of a test in which travel agents beat consumers at uncovering the best airfares. However, it is much more than the "lowest fare" that provides the compelling argument for a good travel agent.

The best thing an agent can do is to match up a traveler with the vacation that's right for them. The professional travel consultant builds relationships with their clients to learn their interests and lifestyles, as well as their dispositions.

Below is a list of some of the important services, which are either provided FREE or for a nominal charge, by travel agents:

1. Distilling the product information: Through an on-going and time-consuming process of familiarization, continuing education and customer feedback, the agent becomes a travel expert.

2. Investigating and supplying competitive information: No single supplier is going to advise a consumer that a better route or a better fare is available on a competing carrier.

3. Staying abreast of the most current and timely promotions: Via daily faxes, agent-only e-mail transmissions, and their relationships with their district sales managers, agents are obtaining the most current promotional information.

4. Analyzing the current promotions: The cheapest is not always the best.

5. Clarifying the fine print, such as cancellation penalties and restrictions: Again, the benefits of a professional's experience can save a traveler money . . . and headaches.

6. Making recommendations for travel-related options: Travel agents share the to pack for different travel options.

7. Simplifying the research and subsequent transaction: Like a personal shopper, agents can provide one-stop shopping for travelers who require air arrangements, rental cars, cruise accommodations and hotel stays - with suggestions that are in the best interest of the client, not the supplier.

8. Enhancing the trip with value-added benefits and amenities: Agents can add to the client's experience by sending a bottle of wine, providing a special land package, a specific escort or other customer amenities.

9. Using their clout to obtain the best possible in seemingly impossible situations: Whether it's airline seats, hotel rooms or cruise space, the travel agent has more buying power than the consumer.

10. Getting problems resolved: The agent serves as the consumer's advocate in the event something inadvertently goes wrong.

The use of outside service providers for many transactions, such as tax preparation, isn't questioned. Similarly, if one is going to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars, as well as a good chunk of valuable leisure time, it makes great sense to use a professional.

Sandals Resorts Launches "Greatest Love Story" Contest

Sandals Resorts is launching a “Greatest Love Story” contest, under which consumers can upload a video of their personal love story to the Sandals website.

The contest coincides with the resort’s 30th anniversary.

Sand Hearts

In every month for six months thereafter, a Sandals Resorts panel of judges will pick a finalist, and the public will have the opportunity to vote online for their favorite video. Videos that are chosen each month will become eligible for either the contest's grand prize or runner-up prizes.

The couple whose story is considered by Sandals to be the most compelling will win a seven-night vacation to Sandals Montego Bay in Jamaica, the company's first resort, and will be invited to attend the company's exclusive 30th anniversary celebration. The couple will stay in one of the resort's luxurious, butler-serviced Love Nest Suites, complete with private luxury airport transfers, and will be treated to a Beautiful Beginnings-themed Sandals Wedding by Martha Stewart or a complimentary vow renewal ceremony.

In addition to roundtrip airline tickets, the grand prize winner will also receive a signature West Indian couples' massage at the award-winning Red Lane Spa, plus a sunset catamaran cruise from Island Routes Caribbean Adventure Tours. The six remaining finalists will win three-night vacations for two to any Sandals Resort in Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Antigua or The Bahamas. Entries must be submitted by Aug. 14, 2011, for consideration. For more information, visit http://www.sandals.com/greatestlovestory

A New Record for Wedding’s at Beaches Turks and Caicos

Wedding bells could be heard the whole month of May at the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort and Spa with a record 109 weddings in just one month.

“It has been a very busy time for us,” wedding specialist Shayna Bigazzi told the fp. The resort is a favourite wedding spot for blissful nuptials, but “we have never had this many weddings in one month so far,” Bigazzi said.

In July it was announced that Sandals Resorts International and Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. had entered a three-year partnership bringing customizable Martha Stewart Weddings to the various Sandals resorts, including Beaches Turks and Caicos, starting this year.

Martha Stewart Weddings at Sandals Resorts are available in six themes with something for every budget and wedding wish. Special Martha Stewart touches include a wedding cake designed by Pastry Guru Wendy Kromer-Schell of Martha Stewart Living, and of course elegant details designed by Martha Stewart herself.

For those wishing to marry on the pristine beaches of Grace Bay, the comprehensive wedding packages cover everything from the rehearsal dinner or lunch, the ceremony to the reception, up to and including the honeymoon. “Our wedding and honeymoon packages have been very popular,” Bigazzi explained.

In this belt-tightening economy, Bigazzi says many couples have to sacrifice the honeymoon. “With our packages, they are able to combine the two and not have to miss out on anything,” she explained.

This new trend has been a big hit at Beaches, where couples have opted for a weeklong combined wedding and honeymoon trip. Along with the wedding couple, family and friends are tagging along, being apart of the wedding, while also having their own vacation at the same time. Shayna says more than half the couples come with groups of 30 people or more.

Most Beaches weddings occur between Thursday and Saturday, but with more than 1,500 feet of beachfront and 10 different locations to hold ceremonies, Beaches offers couples every opportunity for a unique Turks and Caicos Islands wedding experience.

SANDALS RESORTS CONTINUES SANDALS GIVES BACK FUNDRAISING PROGRAM FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS

Caribbean’s Leading Resort Company Aligns with Local Travel Agents to Assist Organizations in Raising Money.

No stranger to community-based and charitable organizations, Sandals Resorts, along with sister-brands Beaches Resorts, The Royal Plantation Collection and Grand Pineapple Beach Resorts, is proud to announce the re-launch of the highly successful Sandals Gives Back fundraising program.  Now in its second year, the program offers fundraising groups in the United States and Canada the opportunity to receive donations for their cause by joining forces with their favorite Sandals Resorts travel agents.

Between October 1, 2010 and January 31, 2011, organizations will have the exclusive opportunity to team up with dedicated Sandals Resorts travel agents during their next fundraising season to earn up to $250 in donations for each vacation package sold through their group.  For any vacation booked to a Sandals Resort, Beaches Resort, Royal Plantation Collection member or Grand Pineapple Beach Resort as a result of the organization’s referral or outreach, the travel agent will donate $100 directly to the organization’s efforts.

To raise additional funds, groups can also invite their dedicated travel agent to host a Sandals Caribbean Night or set up a managed table display during their next fundraising event.  For each resulting booking to a Sandals Resort or Beaches Resort made within 10 days of this event, Sandals will make a supplementary $150 donation per booking to the organization.

Associations and organizations can work with their Sandals Resorts-dedicated travel agent to put together a successful campaign and promote their fundraiser program throughout the community with flyers, posters, ads and online banners and web pages.  To qualify, the travel agent must sign an agreement with their Business Development Manager, and vacation packages must be booked between October 1, 2010 and January 31, 2011 for completed travel by January 31, 2012.

For more information about the Sandals Gives Back fundraising program contact Mark at Island Breeze Travel.
